Action Sports Park DIVERTsessions Opens at MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana Saturday, June 26
Season Passes Now on Sale for $99.99, All Day Passes $39.99
(Santa Ana - Calif. -- June 21, 2021) - DIVERTsessions – a new outdoor action sports, creative education and entertainment venue launching at MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana for a three-month run -- opens to the public Saturday, June 26. The park, an outdoor 45,000 square-foot venue, features six key components: a surf machine, skatepark, ski/snow hill, a creative education studio, a food and beverage program and an event venue.
Pricing starts at $29.99 for a one-hour pass, a full day pass is just $10 more ($39.99) and a Season Pass, giving unlimited visits to the park through Sept. 30, is $99.99. All passes include access to all the sports and creative attractions as well as the lending of equipment necessary to participate. Park hours are 9am – 8pm daily. All activities at DIVERTsessions support beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. DIVERTsessions guides will be present throughout the park at every activity to offer advice, tips and tricks to help guests progress their skills.
Launching on the tail end of a year of social isolation, and right before the first summer Olympics to host skateboarding and surfing, DIVERTsessions aims to bring the life lessons and positive community of action sports and creative culture to everyone, at one convenient location.
Guests can ski or snowboard on a 15-foot-high, 100-foot-long Ski and Snowboard Hill, catch the perfect wave in the FlowRider Wave Machine, learn new tricks in the skatepark area where movable obstacles are constantly changing to keep lines fresh and exciting, or participate in a Creative Lab session where they can explore different creative outlets and develop skills such as videography/photography, music production, digital and street art.
For friends, family and chaperones who would rather watch the action and grab a bite or drink, Spectator Passes are free during standard operations. There will be a $5-$10 cover during special events. Spectator passes grant access to viewing, dining, brand showcases and other experiences in public areas within the park.
“While action sports participation has been proven to positively impact children and youth, a lot of people aren’t able to participate due to how far away the mountains and ocean are from most urban areas and high cost of entry,” said David Monhait, Co-Founder and President of DIVERTbrands. “Rather than spend $200+ for a day-pass at a mountain resort, which also requires reliable transportation, purchase or rental of equipment and additional costs for lessons, food and accommodations- we wanted to bring these experiences to families right in their communities, provide the equipment, and include skilled guidance all as a part of a very affordable price.”
A Closer Look at the Attractions:
Never thought you would be able to ski/snowboard in the middle of the city? DIVERTsessions is about to change all that. Standing at over 20-feet high and over 100-feet long, the Ski and Snowboard Hill is guaranteed to be a memorable experience for all riders. The Snow Hill features industry leading synthetic snow material from ProSlope and has three different “runs” - beginner, intermediate and advanced. Rotating out freestyle features in the intermediate and advanced lines keeps things fresh and exciting. Passes include skis/snowboards, boots and binding, pending size availability.
Never thought you could surf in the concrete jungle? Now you can at DIVERT. The Wave Machine, designed by FlowRider, the world leader in artificial wave technology, offers those with a passion for surfing the opportunity to test and grow their skills, no matter their skill level. Guests can surf (standing on a board) and boogie board (laying on a board) depending on their level of experience.
Want to learn or level up your skate or scooter skills? The DIVERTsessions Skatepark is designed for skateboards, scooters, and rollerblades, and is made to support riders of all skill levels. During special events, guests will be able to participate in other activities such as BMX biking and more. DIVERTsessions Guides are always present to help guests learn new tricks and ensure participant safety. Additionally, the DIVERTsessions skatepark has an automated content capture system, so that guests can rewatch and share their session from the day. Please note DIVERTsessions does not offer rollerblades as part of your ticket at this time, only skateboards and scooters; however, guests are more than welcome to bring their own.
Ready to learn or improve on your next creative skill? DIVERTsessions’ Creative Lab features Open Sessions where you can drop-in and create freely or you can check out one of our many guided skills sessions in music, art, photography, videography and much more. The purpose is to give guests a place to explore their creativity in whatever direction they choose. All Creative Sessions include the necessary materials and technology with the purchase of each pass (pending availability) unless otherwise instructed.
Food and Beverage Options
DIVERTsessions is partnering with local restaurants and food trucks to bring rotating food options to the park and support local businesses. DIVERTsessions will also have a number of healthy and replenishing drinks available so guests can grab a bite, a beverage, and settle in, because it's always après hour at DIVERTsessions!
Event and Concert Stage
From concerts and contests to educational programming and movie premiers, the DIVERTsessions stage and central area between the major participation and experience areas can turn into a safe and socially distant event venue that allows for education and entertainment to be an everyday part of the DIVERTsessions experience.
“There are so many benefits and lessons that come with participating in action sports that can be translated directly to a successful and fulfilling life. Creativity to learn new tricks, resilience to get back up and try again until you succeed, self-motivation and discipline to get out and develop your skills without scheduled practice. We believe that we are not just providing a safe place to hang, but a place to build well rounded youth and community members. Right now, the vast majority are shut out from these experiences and life lessons, DIVERTsessions is here to change that,” said Zach Adamson Founder and CEO of DIVERTbrands.
Parent company DIVERTbrands is founded on the ideal of genuine passion and a drive to better communities through action sports and creative education.
